If you’re new to Top Shelf Gaming, it won’t take you long to realize we’re huge Nintendo fans. That said, the Nintendo Direct for E3 2018 was our most anticipated conference. We didn’t have a strong idea going into what was going to be announced, just that there would be a heavy emphasis on the new Super Smash Bros. We live Tweeted during the conference and compiled them here so you can see our reactions to the Nintendo Direct as we had them.
Daemon X Machina
It’s really cool that a game like this was shown for the first time during Nintendo’s conference. So many games cross-pollinated between conferences which made each repeat showing of a game feel more underwhelming than the last. Similarly, many of the games shown during other conferences debuted at last year’s E3 or were revealed a week or two ago. So starting off the Nintendo Direct with a never-before-seen game was a great way to start the show.
The first game shown at the #NintendoDirect is a new IP. What other surprises are in store? #DailyHotTake #E32018 #TSG3 https://t.co/hi9f8HhNls

Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee & Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu
We didn’t learn much more about the game. The big takeaway is that the legendary Pokemon Mew will come with every purchase of a PokeBall Plus, they new hybrid controller-pedometer made exclusively to work with Pokemon Let’s Go and Pokemon Go.
The new Pokemon games look fun but that's not why we're here. #DailyHotTake #E32018 #TSG3 https://t.co/7RW9TpNKg7

The palpableĀ fan excitement for Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Marcus was watching the direct with hundreds of Nintendo fans in line for the Splatoon 2 World Championships and the Super Smash Bros Invitational that was being hosted less than a mile from E3. Here are some of the fan reactions live during that incredible info Smash Bros info dump.
@NintendoAmerica Holy balls. Everyone waiting in line for the Nintendo World Championships is watching the #NintendoDirect and simultaneously losing their ever loving minds over the new #SmashUltimate. God, I love this community. #E32018 #TSG #DailyHotTake pic.twitter.com/PKjINzRQlK

Super Mario Party
This looks like the Mario Party we've been waiting for for years. We're getting tired of relying on @jackboxgames for our gatherings as fun as they are. #DailyHotTake #E32018 #TSG3 https://t.co/CAGACRCCWT

Killer Queen Black
Killer Queen is becoming an arcade staple, but it is still very niche. Most people don’t realize how cool it is to have this game come to console.
The @KindaFunnyVids team called it. @KillerQueenGame is back and it looks awesome. #DailyHotTake #E32018 #TSG3 https://t.co/DrVB5eG3N0

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
This the first console #FireEmblem since Radiant Dawn on the Wii. We are loving how you can still see soldiers fighting in the background during battle sequences. It really helps sell the feeling of fighting in a war. #DailyHotTake #E32018 #TSG3 https://t.co/yITyA39KKh

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Sometimes, you make typos when you can hardly contain your “assignment”.
Every character from each previous #SmashBros will be in #SmashUltimate. This is huge. This is not a drill. That means Ice Climbers and Snake are back! We can hardly contain our assignment over here! #DailyHotTake #E32018 #TSG3 https://t.co/yEzcuUfYHh

Ridley in Smash Bros
And sometimes it’s bad autocorrect.
Long-time fan-requested character Ridley will be a playable character in #SmashUltimate. This is one of a bajillion new things announced for the upcoming #SmashBros including a timely December release date. We have a feeling this is stoll only the beginning. #DailyHotTake #E32018 https://t.co/pN6h2z3Hd4
