What’s New with TSG in 2017
I hope all of you are well. I am so thankful for all of your support over the last two and a half years whether you’re a returning reader or just stumbled across the site. I wanted to update you all on what’s been going on with the site and where we are going next.
As you may have noticed, content output has slowed to a crawl in December. This is in line with TSG’s usual cadence because we rely heavily on our interns to write the majority of our articles. That means after each school semester ends there are significantly fewer minds available to write articles to our standard.
However, we are not going anywhere. While the remaining staff has been resting after a busy work season, the work always continues in some capacity and usually when I’m not writing it is because I am working on another facet of the business.
Starting this week, you can expect more regular content updates and, of course, our podcast Trust Sircle will continue to release every Wednesday morning. Speaking of which, one of our big initiatives for 2017 is growing the podcast. We are investing our time and resources into the show to refine and make it a prime listening experience. Thank you for those of you who tune in every week to listen to us. We’re doing this for you.
Top Shelf Gaming is a passion project that seeks to strengthen both local and online communities through video games. Our second big focus of 2017 is collaboration. We are seeking to build relationships with other sites and to establish roots in the Orange County gaming scene. I am passionate about uniting people through games and this will be the year where I use the platform I’ve been developing since 2014 to build bridges.
Last but not least, TSG’s internship program will continue although it may look a bit different. I’ve had the pleasure of graduating 17 interns through our program over the last four semester at Chapman University. This most recent semester brought in the best intern group Top Shelf Gaming has ever had and their graduation has been very bittersweet for me. I will not be hosting the internship in the spring, but am making major changes to the program and students will be able to sign up come this fall.
We have a couple other things in the works that we will announce at a later date. This is a critical time for TSG and I’m excited for where we are going this year. There is a ton of work ahead of us but I’ve learned that slow and steady wins the race. The first half of the year will be a time of diligence in preparation for an explosive second half. I hope you will stick with us through the journey. We appreciate your support so far.
