The Bare Blog Minimum

This post was adapted from the original Tumblr blog.

There has been a lack of written content this week as I focus my attention on the presentation of the blog. This may be a Tumblr blog with a generic theme, but I’m doing all I can to make this  feel like an actual website.

I’ve been learning how to work within the limitations of the site and the theme in order to create a unique and unified look to my blog. This site has to perform well on the page itself, the dashboard, and on mobile. I’ve been creating a style guide for formatting my posts, including image sizes and type treatments.

Visually the blog has also undergone a major facelift as well. Those of you who have visited the blog before this week can attest that the page looks so much nicer now. I have spent considerable time developing the logo and have also settled on this lovely teal and salmon color palette. These are not colors that I am immediately drawn to personally, but at the very least they stand out from other similar sites. For that reason, I’m content.

I’m also excited to announce that I won’t be the only voice on here. Soon there will be a couple of new contributors adding their own opinions to this small cesspool of video game vomit.

So as you can really see, things are kind of picking up in their own small way. I’m having a lot of fun managing this blog and I can’t wait to see where it goes, especially in the holiday season.

This weekend I will be attending EVO in Las Vegas. You can count on at least one post about my weekend in the coming week. Until then, keep it on the top shelf.
