No release date has been revealed yet, but a screenshot was released, and it appears that rather than having to push a ball into a goal, the player will have to bounce it into a small “hoop” with an elevated “rim”. The news also appears to have been well-received, indicated by a very positive social media response.
Rocket League, available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, has won several awards as a sports game, and has been critically acclaimed for its addicting gameplay and visual appeal. The game has also been embraced as an officially sponsored eSport, and has released several DLC packages, featuring themed cars, new maps, and a hockey modification that turns the ball into a flat puck, and the grass on the court into ice.
With this release, Psyonix continues its excellent support of one of the most interesting and innovative games of 2015, and the basketball mode will be a welcome addition to the Rocket League family. Time to get those boosts going.
