Microsoft Cancels Fable Legends

Sorry, Xbox owners, apparently Microsoft is closing the door on Lionhead Studios and thus terminating Fable Legends along with it. This is a sad day indeed as the Fable series has been a fan favorite among Xbox exclusives. Considering a lot of people have been patiently waiting for Fable Legends since it began development in 2012 and Microsoft had a well-developed demo at last year’s E3, one must wonder why Microsoft finally closed the door. The game was being constantly being delayed, and the fact that Microsoft cut ties with Lionhead altogether suggests that the development studio was experiencing internal issues.

Suggesting that their decision perhaps had to do with the cost of creating an Xbox-only game, is that they cancelled Press Play’s Project Knoxville, another Xbox exclusive. Whatever their reasons, it’s sad to think that this year marks the possible end of the Fable series, which has been a staple since 2004.
